Special Course for Parents and their children (aged 9+) Capturing Joy - The 5 Secrets to Outstanding Photos of Children, Friends, and Family for beginners
Learn to take stunning photos of children, friends and family in a special jargon-free course for parents together with children aged 9+. This is a special version of our most popular course "Capturing Joy". We've packed it with fun new activities for children aged 9 and over with their parents, aunts, uncles or grandparents. Get dramatic action photos of each other, and gorgeous studio-style shots - all with your own camera or cameras. Have fun together, play together, and learn to capture wonderful memories for life. You might even spark a new hobby together. We'll read your instruction manual for you before you come, and give you customised “cheat” cards to keep with your camera showing you how to set all the key functions, so you can just enjoy taking great photos without having to memorise buttons. If you know someone else who would love to have some special family time, we have elegant gift certificates available too, so they can choose a date to suit them.

How much does it cost? 1 pair (parent and child aged 9+) $185 2 pairs* (2 parents and 2 children aged 9+) $175 each pair 3 or more pairs* $165 each pair * all group places must be booked together and paid together additional children can be added to a booking for $44 each. Gift certificates are also available, and can form part of group bookings.
Who are the workshops for? Beginners and absolute beginners. Children should be aged 10 or over. When and where are the workshops? This page lists the times, dates, venues, directions, parking details, and wheelchair accessibility of each workshop. Workshops last 3 hours 30, and are held at venues in Brisbane. What do I need to know already? How to put in batteries and memory card, how to turn the camera on, and how to take a photo and see photos you have taken on your camera's screen How technical does it get? Not at all. If you're one of the 95% of people who want to just take great photos without having to learn about apertures and shutter speeds, you've come to the right place. What's not covered? Apertures and shutter speeds (see our advanced course for this); getting images onto your computer; editing images on your computer; or the ins-and-outs of every minor function on your camera. But we do cover all the key functions for great people shots. What kind of camera do I need? Anything digital is fine - it really doesn't need to be expensive. You can see some of our family shots taken on an $88 digital camera here. What should I bring? Your camera with fresh batteries and enough space on a memory card to take at least 150 photos. No need to bring your instruction manual, as we read it for you and make cheat cards customised to your exact camera model. Dean who? Dean Holland brings 20 years' experience in photography, and 15 years' experience and a PhD in adult learning.
